Thursday, we brought you news of a Lake Oswego computer repairman’s plans to organize a “March 4 Trump,” one of many such events across the country. Friday, in an unsurprising turn of events, there is word of a counter-protest meant to rival the march.
Kevin Kerwin of Kevin the Geek Computer Repair Shop is one of four Lake Oswego organizers listed on the March 4 Trump event’s official Facebook page.
“This is a nationwide event in states across the country,” the event description reads. “Let’s support our president and stop the hate – please join us in this effort to unite America.”
Oregon Students Empowered, the group organizing the counter-protest, said in a post that “Oregon is a state of resistance and we do not welcome these kind of events in our state, we do not welcome misogynists, racists, fascists and xenophobes.”
“We will outnumber them,” the post read. “They don’t even have a chance.”
As of 10 p.m. Friday, 34 people had confirmed on Facebook they would attend the counter-protest, with another nearly 200 interested. The March 4 Trump had garnered 125 RSVPs, with another 280 interested in the event.
We’ve reached out to the organizers of the counter-protest and will update this post when respond.
