Poland has already delivered four Leopard tanks, and now ten more of the Type 2A4 are to be handed over to Ukraine. However, Defense Minister Blaszcak complains that there is a lack of spare parts. He expects Germany to solve this problem.
Poland will hand over another 10 Leopard 2A4 tanks to Ukraine this week. According to the PAP news agency, Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak announced this before he left for a meeting of EU defense ministers in Stockholm. In addition, a service center for tanks delivered to Ukraine will be set up in Poland, said the politician from the national conservative Law and Justice Party (PiS).
The hub is expected to be affiliated with the Bumar Labedy armaments company in Gliwice, in the Silesian Voivodeship. However, the main problem at the moment is the lack of spare parts, Blaszczak noted. He expects his German colleague Boris Pistorius to influence German industry so that spare parts for Leopard tanks are supplied. Only Germany can solve this problem. The Polish armaments industry is ready to replicate spare parts, but unlike the tank manufacturer, does not have the necessary documents.
In total, Poland plans to provide Ukraine with 14 Leopard 2A4 tanks. According to the information, there are also eight Norwegian, eight Canadian and six Spanish tanks and support vehicles from Finland to complete a tank battalion. Ukraine has been fighting the Russian war of aggression for more than a year.
