After five nights of revolt, during which mayors and town halls were prime targets, Emmanuel Macron will receive, on Tuesday, “the more than 220 mayors of municipalities who are victims of abuses”, announced on Sunday July 2, a participant in the outcome of a meeting around the Head of State.

“We must first qualify the events before drawing conclusions,” insisted the president, according to a participant, during a meeting with the head of government and seven ministers, including Gérald Darmanin (Interior) and Éric Dupond. -Moretti (Justice), Sunday evening at the Élysée.

The Head of State also asked the ministers to “continue to be present on the ground, each in their area of ????competence and action”, it is specified.

Emmanuel Macron will chair a new meeting of the same format “within 48 hours” to take stock of the situation. Also attending this meeting were Ministers Bruno Le Maire (Economy), Olivier Klein (City), Olivia Grégoire (Trade), Christophe Béchu (Territorial Cohesion) and Jean-Noël Barrot (Digital).

Emmanuel Macron asked his ministers to “continue to do everything to restore order and guarantee a return to calm”, continued the participant quoted above. “He also asked the government to continue to be alongside the police, gendarmes, magistrates, clerks, firefighters, elected officials mobilized day and night for five days,” he said.

The deputies of the majority are notably invited to participate in the rallies in support of elected officials organized Monday at 12 p.m. in front of town halls throughout France.

According to a government source, “we are not yet out of this situation and we must remain focused on the coming hours”. We must “show the unity of the nation”, she also insisted.
