It is one of many mysterious deaths in Russia: the body of a civil servant is discovered in St. Petersburg. According to the Russian media, the investigation is still ongoing. But there is supposedly already a guess as to what is behind her death.

A senior Russian Defense Ministry official has been found dead. This is reported by several Russian media unanimously. Accordingly, the body of 58-year-old Marina Yankina was found on Thursday in the immediate vicinity of a skyscraper in St. Petersburg. She was Head of the Finance and Procurement Department of the Western Military District in the Russian Defense Ministry.

As the “Kommersant” writes, the police later found documents and personal belongings that probably belonged to Marina Yankina on the balcony of the house on the 16th floor. Suicide is currently the most likely cause, they say. But the investigations were still ongoing.

Reports of extraordinary deaths in Russia have increased in recent months. It was only recently that the alleged suicide of Russian Major General Vladimir Makarov near Moscow was reported.

There are also reports of high-ranking politicians and managers falling fatally from windows or yachts. Another senior Russian billionaire reportedly died after being treated by a shaman.

In view of numerous proven and suspected assassination attempts on Russian opposition figures and critics of President Vladimir Putin, the suspicion also falls on the Russian secret service. Oligarchs such as ex-banker Oleg Tinkov, who has taken a clear stand against the Ukraine war, have spoken publicly about their fears of falling victim to Putin’s revenge.
