The former president of the French far-right National Front party (now National Rally) Jean-Marie Le Pen, hospitalized on Saturday after a heart attack, “is fine” and the news is “reassuring”, his daughter Marine said on Sunday. Le Pen in a radio-television broadcast.
“My dad is going gloriously into his 95th birthday, so it does require a few trips to the hospital every now and then to sort of adjust. But he’s fine, and I thank everyone who inquired about his health,” said the leader of the National Rally of the 94-year-old founder of the National Front.
“I haven’t seen him yet, it won’t be long” but “he’s fine, that’s the essential information”, she added, asking for respect for his “privacy”.
Jean-Marie Le Pen was hospitalized in the Paris region after a “slight heart attack”, his adviser Lorrain de Saint Affrique said on Saturday evening. “His loved ones are worried but calm,” he added.
The former far-right political leader has been hospitalized several times in recent years. In February 2022, he had been hospitalized following a mild form of stroke.
