The environmental deputy Julien Bayou judged on Wednesday the current debate on a possible “bogus” immigration bill, and wants with the left alliance Nupes to better “organize the reception”.

The content of the government project must be clarified in July, after consultations to try to find a compromise with the right. Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne announced on Tuesday that deputies would have to examine it in November.

But for the former boss of EELV, “it’s a bogus debate” and the idea of a bill should be “forgotten”. “The government day after day is more and more ridiculous”, whereas “it was supposedly a priority of the campaign”, he noted before the Association of Parliamentary Journalists.

According to the elected representative of Paris, “we have a minister (Gérald Darmanin, editor’s note) who seeks the support of the right which itself is racing with the National Front”, which has become the National Rally, whereas “if there is one subject is the organization of reception”.

“We are for the regularization of undocumented migrants”, like many economic actors who are struggling to find labor, he said, also evoking in the country “a humanist aspiration to organize reception” .

Asked about the polls showing the Rassemblement national in progress, Mr. Bayou said he was skeptical and considered that a “redemonization of the FN” was in progress.

“We had predicted their notabilization, their trivialization” but “we measure drama after drama, news item after news item, that the FN is a scavenger of information”, he criticized.

The deputy also mentioned the parliamentary commission of inquiry into foreign interference, which accused the RN of having been an “effective transmission belt” of the Kremlin’s discourse. Marine Le Pen immediately castigated a “dishonest” and “politicized” report.
