The Nupes deputies, meeting Monday in a seminar in Val-de-Marne, expressed their desire to be “in combat” in the face of the government’s projects by displaying their unity after the recent dissensions within the alliance, in particular on the European elections.
“There are those who theorize and question the union, then there are those who try to practice it on a daily basis for the benefit of the French in a determined opposition,” declared the leader of the socialist deputies, Boris Vallaud, at midday. , during a press conference in Ivry-sur-Seine, south of Paris.
For this first reunion since the parliamentary recess, the Nupes deputies intend to work and reflect together on the various upcoming bills, after having met in the morning with various unions, associations or climate activists.
Regarding the “important deadline” of the Social Security financing law, the difficult “back to school” or “poverty which has never been so severe”, Boris Vallaud assured that “each time we can, we will make proposals together”, evoking “battles” which “will lead us to oppose a lot of texts that the government would like to pass”.
“We are here in combat,” also insisted the president of the rebellious group in the Assembly, Mathilde Panot, “faced with the 15 billion (euros) in savings that Emmanuel Macron wants to make at the expense of the French, and faced with the umpteenth immigration law that they want to pass.
On the immigration bill as on the budgetary texts or the agricultural orientation law, “we will define what Nupes will do to bring together the proposals that are in our government program”, she added.
“The question is not whether we like each other or not, whether we like each other or not,” argued Cyrielle Chatelain, the boss of the environmentalist deputies, while Jean-Luc Mélenchon explained on Sunday: “I don’t do Nupes because I like others: (no), I don’t like them”.
“We do not agree on everything, and at the same time we agree on many things,” said the communist deputy Pierre Dharréville, while the boss of the communists, Fabien Roussel, is increasingly making his mark its difference with the Nupes.
In the afternoon, the deputies talked about “working method”, explained the socialist Jérôme Guedj, in the face of possible 49.3 of the government, the legal texts, and the legislative proposals of other groups, in particular those of the RN.
The question of the Europeans, which divides the Nupes between LFI which wants a common list and the others who each leave with an autonomous list, was also addressed, as was the question of “how to prepare for 2027”, explained the EELV deputy Julien Bayou .
