Maire, a leading technology and engineering group, has recently made a significant announcement through its subsidiary, NEXTCHEM. The subsidiary, known for its Sustainable Technology Solutions, has secured a contract to upgrade and expand the urea plant operated by El Delta Company for Fertilizer and Chemical Industries in Talkha, Egypt. This development is aimed at increasing the plant’s production capacity from 1,725 metric tons per day to 2,250 MTPD.

The contract includes licensing and the design of a new urea granulation unit with a capacity of 2,250 MTPD. Stamicarbon, the nitrogen technology licensor, will utilize its Ultra-Low Energy Design, part of the NX Stami Urea™ technology, to achieve this expansion. This innovative design is expected to reduce steam consumption by 35% and cooling water use by 16%. By utilizing high-pressure steam three times in CO2 stripping processes, compared to the conventional two times, significant energy savings will be achieved.
