Back in the spotlight for several weeks with the release of the second volume of his memoirs, Le Temps des combats, and the continuation of his legal setbacks, Nicolas Sarkozy seems to be suffering from his media exposure.
The former President of the Republic has for some time been the subject of death threats, made against him, as well as that of his son, Jean. An investigation into “repeated death threats” was opened this Wednesday, September 20, by the Paris prosecutor’s office, AFP reported after contacting the magistrates of the public prosecutor’s office.
“We were informed of a complaint filed this morning” in Paris, said the prosecution, confirming information from Actu17, which states that the complaint was filed through Nicolas Sarkozy’s security chief. The media devoted to judicial news also adds that the brigade for the repression of delinquency against the person (BRDP) of the Paris judicial police will be responsible for the investigations.
The complaint denounces, according to our colleagues, a threatening phone call made last Sunday to Nicolas Sarkozy’s sister. A stranger reportedly told him to “wish Nicolas and Jean Sarkozy dead as soon as possible. Let them die.” The prosecution did not confirm the content of the threatening remarks.
Aged 68, the former head of state, in office from 2007 to 2012, denounces more generally “harassment” against him, while two trials await him in France in November and in 2025.
