“Supergirl” is staging a potential reunion between Teri Hatcher and Dean Cain, who played the title roles on the ABC superhero series “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman” back in the ‘90s.
During a recent press event, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said that they would love to see Hatcher and Cain reunite onscreen. “There’s a plan — if [only] we can execute the plan,” Comicbook.com quoted Kreisberg as saying.
Cain is recurring as Jeremiah Danvers on “Supergirl,” while Hatcher is set to make her debut appearance in next week’s Season 2, episode 15, titled “Exodus.”
Details about Hatcher’s role are being kept under wraps, but Variety reported last month that her character is Season 2’s new big bad. “Hercules” actor Kevin Sorbo also revealed to Entertainment Tonight earlier this month that Hatcher’s mystery role is the wife of his yet-to-be-revealed villainous character. Sorbo added that his and Hatcher’s characters hail from “another planet that is an arch-rival planet of Krypton.”
“Supergirl” has yet to completely tackle Mon-El’s (Chris Wood) backstory, so it’s likely that Hatcher and Sorbo’s characters are from Mon-El’s home planet, Daxam. And because “Supergirl” is basically a family drama masquerading as an action-adventure series, it won’t be surprising if Sorbo and Hatcher’s characters turn out to be Mon-El’s parents. If the fan theory proposing that Mon-El is the Prince of Daxam happens to be true, then that would make Sorbo and Hatcher’s roles the king and queen of Daxam.
Interestingly, Sorbo revealed that if things had worked out differently in the ‘90s, his and Hatcher’s guest appearance on “Supergirl” would be a superhero reunion for the two of them.
“Way back in 1993, I actually booked ‘Lois & Clark,’ and 24 hours later they canceled me and put in Dean Cain,” Sorbo told Entertainment Tonight. “But three months later, I got ‘Hercules,’ so I was okay with it.”
“Supergirl” Season 2, episode 15 airs on Monday, March 6 at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
