Talking about the working classes, the place of the media or even artificial intelligence: the PS is launching the “Media of ideas”, a series of programs on Youtube to relaunch “the reflection of the party” and “irrigate” the left.

It is a “place for dialogue”, with personalities “not a priori from our inner circle”, to feed “public debate and within the left”, on “subjects on which we have no not thought enough”, explains to AFP Sarah Proust, national secretary of the PS in charge of electoral strategy, who will host these programs with Luc Broussy, former president of the national council of the party.

“The Socialist Party did not work as much as it should have,” admits the latter. But since 2017, “every year, we have been killed in every election, each ballot conditioned our survival, it was then difficult to have a substantive reflection”, he analyzes.

“We worked a lot to make programs, but not on ideas”, summarizes Sarah Proust.

The first program, launched Monday evening at 7 p.m., invited the writer Nicolas Mathieu, Goncourt 2018 for “Their children after them”, in order to talk in particular about the working classes. A week later, it will be the writer Eric Orsenna, to talk about media concentration in France, with in particular Nathalie Sonnac, an economist specializing in the sector.

“We want to clear subjects”, “go find people who irrigate our thinking”, “without an agenda imposed by current events”, adds Mr. Broussy.

“We had the impression that we were not frequentable, but everyone answered yes”, he rejoices.

In these programs, “it is not a question of defining measures for a program”, specifies Sarah Proust, but the lines of thought which will come out of it “could be used for the drafting of our project”, nuance Luc Broussy.

Among the other themes in preparation: the left and the Enlightenment, with the CNRS researcher Stéphanie Roza, the four-day week, with the philosopher specialist in work Julia de Funes, or artificial intelligence, with the mathematician Cédric Villani and the scientist Aurélie Jean.

The broadcasts, recorded at the PS headquarters in Ivry-sur-Seine by party teams, last 40 minutes. They will be broadcast every week until mid-July, and every 15 days from the start of the school year.
