Trump made the comment in an interview on “Just the News”, a television program on Real America’s Voice. He cited a 2020 Report from Republicans who were on two Senate panels investigating allegations of corruption against Hunter Biden and Mr. Biden’s business dealings with Ukraine.
Senate Republicans claimed that Hunter Biden, co-founder of an investment firm, received $3.5 million in wire transfers from Elena Baturina in 2014. Yury Luzhkov, the former mayor, was also part of this transfer.
“As long Putin isn’t exactly a fan, let him explain… why did the mayor in Moscow give $3.5 million to the Bidens, each of them? This is a large sum of money. Trump stated that she gave $3.5 million to them in the interview he conducted from Mar-a-Lago, his South Florida property. So, I think Putin would have the answer. He should publish it. That answer should be known, I believe.”
Trump continued to say that Putin would “now be willing to possibly give that answer.”
During the 2020 campaign, during rallies, and during a debate with President Biden, the former president repeatedly brought up this accusation. Hunter Biden’s attorney has denied repeatedly that his client was involved in the founding of Rosemont Seneca Thornton Investment Company. Therefore, he did not receive $3.5 million.
PolitiFact stated that Hunter Biden did not have an interest in Rosemont Seneca Thornton and was not co-founder.
GOP Senator Mitt Romney from Utah criticized the comments of the former president and called Putin “one the most evil people on the planet.”
He said that Vladimir Putin is not someone he should be considering for favors.
Trump has made repeated claims to Hunter Biden of wrongdoing in relation to his business dealings with Ukraine and Eastern Europe during his father’s term as vice president. He has also called for other countries to reveal damaging information about his political enemies.
During his 2016 presidential campaign against Hillary Clinton, Trump asked Russia to release emails that were stored on Clinton’s private server. These emails were used by Clinton during her time in government.
During a press conference, he stated that Russia, if your listening, I hope you can find the 30,000 missing emails.”
In exchange for vital military aid, Trump made it clear that he was pressing Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the Ukrainian president, to open an investigation into Mr. Biden. His impeachment on charges of abuse and obstruction of Congress by the House was a result of his actions in relation to withholding the assistance. The Senate cleared Trump of both impeachment and obstruction charges.
Hunter Biden is currently under investigation regarding his tax affairs. The investigation continues.
