The former commander-in-chief predicted that “a major war would break out” at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Orlando.
Trump has already endorsed more than 120 Republican candidates at the local and federal levels in the 2022 midterm elections. He also strongly suggested that he will run for president in 2024.
“[Democrats] will find out the hard and painful way beginning on November 8th, and continuing on to November 2024. They will discover the truth like never before. It was done twice. It will be repeated. Trump stated that we will do it again for the third time.”
Trump was harshly criticized by Democrats. Some fellow Republicans received mixed responses for calling Russian President Vladimir Putin “savvy”, “smart” and “smart”. He doubled down his remarks on Saturday.
Trump stated to more than 5,000 people that the problem was not Putin’s intelligence, although he is.
Although Trump first mentioned Ukraine to describe Volodymyr Zelensky, the Ukrainian president, he used the crisis to criticize Mr. Biden’s southern border policies with Mexico. He took a similar stance to other right-wing activists as well as other Congressional candidates.
Trump was the one who introduced controversial initiatives like the “Remain in Mexico” policy. He said that the Biden administration had spent months trying to stop an invasion by a foreign nation thousands of miles away. If you are unable to defend your own civilization, then western civilization cannot be protected.”
He cited other instances of Russian aggression by previous presidents and leaned back on his baseless claim that the 2020 election was stolen. He claimed the conflict wouldn’t have occurred if he were president.
Trump and many other speakers made comparisons throughout the weekend between the Biden administration’s response to Russia’s invasion and the withdrawal from Afghanistan 2021.
Trump also gave praise to Marjorie Taylor Greene (conservative GOP Congresswoman), who was criticised for attending a white-nationalist event Friday.
“A shy person doesn’t like to speak her mind. Marjorie Taylor Greene, she did it anyway,” he said to the cheers of the crowd.
Greene said that she did not know Nick Fuentes (a white nationalist who founded American First Political Action Conference) and that she was unaware of his views before she accepted to speak at the CPAC.
Trump also attacked Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, for allowing Biden’s bipartisan infrastructure bill pass Congress. Trump repeatedly attempted to recruit Rick Scott, Florida Senator and Chair of the National Republican Senatorial Committee to challenge McConnell to the GOP Senate leadership post. Scott stated that he will not challenge McConnell to the position.
Trump stated to the 150 people in attendance at a Save America PAC event that they would be happy if he announced a 2024 presidential campaign. According to the New York Times, Trump said that he knows who they don’t want for their V.P.
According to two witnesses, Trump called McConnell “weak” as well.
