“Break of trust” between the National Rally and BFMTV. According to information released by Politico, the leadership of Jordan Bardella’s party has instructed several RN elected officials to boycott the BFMTV channel. The National Rally obviously did not appreciate that a journalist from the Quotidien program was recruited by the country’s first news channel. Sophie Dupont, who currently officiates in the program presented by Yann Barthes, must indeed move to BFMTV in order to cover the news of the National Rally.
Only, the National Rally believes that this journalist is leading “a militant and political fight” against the party to the flame. In fact, Jordan Bardella and Marine Le Pen asked party speakers “to no longer respond to requests from BFM, sets, duplexes, interviews”, says Liberation. Indeed, the president of the RN considered that this decision by BFMTV marked “a breach of trust”, justifying this call for a boycott by “great reluctance towards this journalist”.
“This recruitment is a bit of a straw that broke the camel’s back,” a member of Jordan Bardella’s entourage told HuffPost. The latter explains, in fact, that it has been almost three months since BFMTV no longer has a journalist specifically responsible for the RN. The choice of Sophie Dupont was therefore not seen very favorably by the members of the party. This “shows a total lack of consideration for the channel towards us, to follow us with a journalist who does not do political journalism”, for his part scolded a frontist deputy, in the columns of Liberation.
