The boss of the Republicans (LR) Éric Ciotti wishes to experiment with wearing a uniform in the colleges of his department of the Alpes-Maritimes, he announced to the Journal du Dimanche in the wake of recent announcements from the Minister of Education. . While Gabriel Attal said he was in favor of such experiments at the end of July “if the educational community of an establishment” requests it, Éric Ciotti pleads for him to “move quickly” and “generalize the return of the uniform”.
“We want to launch an experiment in this direction, in the colleges of the Alpes-Maritimes, in agreement with the president of the departmental council”, indicates the deputy of this department, affirming to have “discussed this candidacy with Gabriel Attal”.
The president of the LR thus joins the request of the mayor of Perpignan Louis Aliot (RN), who proposed Thursday the establishment of a uniform outfit in the schools of the city, and that of the mayor of Béziers Robert Ménard, who had expressed at the beginning of August his wish to experiment with wearing a uniform in his commune.
In this interview with the JDD, the president of the Republicans delivers in passing a satisfaction with the recent decision to ban the abaya in schools, long garment considered by the government as an ostentatious religious sign and therefore contrary to the law.
“But I believe that we must go further by protecting the school outside the walls: we must prohibit the wearing of religious symbols for the parents of accompanying students during school outings”, pleads Éric Ciotti, taking up a recurring proposal of his political family.
On the eve of the start of the school year, Éric Ciotti is also campaigning to “reinstate the law of 2009” (passed in 2010, applied until 2013) which he had initiated “allowing the abolition of family allowances for resigning parents and better support for parents in difficulty through “parental responsibility contract”.
Calling for “rehabilitating diplomas and grades”, the deputy of the Alpes-Maritimes also asks to make obtaining the college patent “a compulsory passage to pass in second”. “Similarly, we cannot tolerate that some children arrive at college barely knowing how to read. Let’s restore a primary school leaving exam as a gateway to 6th grade, “he pleads.
