In its latest bulletin, published Monday January 1, Météo-France placed nine departments on orange alert for rain-flooding on Tuesday. Manche, Orne, Mayenne and Sarthe, Loire-Atlantique and Vendée are affected by the alert from the meteorological agency, as well as Pas-de-Calais, Finistère and Morbihan, already on orange alert on Monday. Fifty-five departments are also on yellow alert.
“At the end of the day this Monday, a new disturbance approaches Pas-de-Calais from the west. During the night and day of Tuesday, it is accompanied by continuous and lasting rain, apart from a temporary calm at the end of the night and early morning,” explains Météo-France. Concerning the North-West, “a rainy disturbance is approaching the Atlantic coast. The activity of this disturbance will persist throughout the night as well as a good part of the day Tuesday, with continued rain generating significant accumulations,” it is detailed in the bulletin.
In France the year begins with overcast and rainy weather in the morning from the South-West to the Massif Central and the North-East. In the afternoon, the precipitation shifted to the eastern side of the country.
