Météo-France lifted the orange vigilance for thunderstorms in the Alpes-Maritimes on Monday, but maintained it in Corsica with a risk of waves-submersion in the south of the island. After gusts of up to 130 km / h on the Mediterranean island and accumulations of 40 to 60 millimeters of rain in the Alpes-Maritimes on Sunday, “violent thunderstorms will circulate in the Mediterranean on Monday and may overflow into Corsica” with the deepening of the “Réa” depression, specifies Météo-France.

“Very virulent” stormy waves with “very high rainfall intensities” are feared.

Another consequence: “The west to northwest wind strengthens off and around Corsica and generates strong westerly waves which break on the western coast of Corsica”, adds Météo-France which placed Corsica -du-Sud in vigilance orange waves-submersion from 2 p.m. to midnight.

The tourist areas of the gulfs of Sagone, Porto, Propriano and the south of the gulf of Ajaccio are concerned. At this stage, no significant intervention has taken place, according to the firefighters of Corsica.
