Arbitration-eligible player who fail to reach an agreement will have their case heard by three-person panels via video conference. This is after opening day. Scheduling was impacted by the 99-day lockout, which delayed the opening of spring training from February 16 to March 13, and March 31 to April 7.
From Tuesday, January mid-January to Tuesday, the deadline for swapping arbitration numbers was extended. Hearings are usually held in the first three weeks February. However, no dates have been established. Both players and teams can continue to negotiate, and they may reach an agreement at any moment.
If players and teams don’t agree on a salary prior to opening day, the player will be paid at the club’s rate and the salary would be retroactively adjusted if necessary.
