Real Madrid did not get past a 1-1 (1:1) in the first leg at home against the team of the German coach Thomas Tuchel. The Frenchman Ferland Mendy, who had recently replaced Marcelo on the left in the defensive chain, can probably not be available for Real because of calf problems.
The Madrilenians now hope to release Marcelo from his civic duties. The official confirmation of the club’s desire has not yet been given by the authorities. But coach Zinedine Zidane was convinced at a press conference of the “Royal” this Thursday that the left-back will be in action in the Champions League: “We can not influence the duties of the individual. He will fulfil his civic obligations, but on Wednesday he will be with the team,“ said Zidane.
According to regulations, election workers can only be excused for valid professional reasons if they provide essential services to the community during this period, for example in health care. Marcelo, whose annual income is estimated at 15.1 million euros, would receive an allowance of 65 euros for the job as an election worker.
