Uefa, the governing body of European soccer, has recently announced a significant sponsorship deal with Qatar Airways. This multi-year agreement, which will run until 2030, designates Qatar Airways as the official airline of the prestigious Champions League club competition.
In addition to the Champions League, the sponsorship rights of the Uefa Super Cup, Youth League, and Futsal Champions League are also included in the deal. Qatar Airways will benefit from brand exposure through various channels such as in-game perimeter LED boards, media interview backdrops, and broadcast sponsorship. The reported worth of this six-year agreement is a staggering €500 million (US$556.5 million).
This partnership marks the departure of Turkish Airlines as the airline category sponsor for the Champions League, a role they held since 2022. Qatar Airways has been strengthening its relationship with Uefa, previously being a partner for the men’s European Championship in 2020 and 2024. The airline now joins the global partner tier of the Champions League alongside other prominent names like Bet365, Crypto.com, FedEx, Heineken, Just Eat Takeaway.com, Mastercard, PepsiCo, and PlayStation.
Uefa President, Aleksander ?eferin, expressed his enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “Qatar Airways and Uefa are united in their passion for sports and global business excellence. This shared commitment is the foundation of our long-lasting partnership as we strive to provide football fans worldwide with exceptional experiences. We are delighted to expand our partnership to another level as we embark on a new era of the Uefa Champions League.”
Looking ahead, the next round of Champions League fixtures is scheduled to take place between 1st and 2nd October.
