Rivals four-star wide receiver C.J. Moore first met Oregon Ducks co-offensive coordinator and quarterback/tight ends coach Marcus Arroyo when he was at Oklahoma State.

But as the offseason musical chairs game of college football coaching came to a close, Arroyo found himself recruiting the 6-foot-5, 175-pound wide receiver, out of Union High School (Tulsa, Oklahoma), to another program.

So far, the dynamic pass-catcher has been enamored with the possibility of playing for Arroyo at Oregon.

“The first time I met him he was at (Oklahoma State),” Moore said. “He was the running back coach out there. I hadn’t talked to him much. He followed me one day and told me to call him a couple of minutes later, and we’ve been chatting ever since. I think he’s a good person. I haven’t had a chance to kick it with him and see what type of person he is, but all that will come later on.”

Moore intends to cut his list to five at the conclusion of Junior Days around the country, and expects he’ll take an official visit to each of his finalists.

Oregon, he said, is a strong contender to make that cut, but first Moore hopes to come to Eugene for an unofficial trip.

“(Arroyo) wants me to come down on April 29,” he said. “I’ll talk to my (family) about that, and I’ll probably take an official visit up there.”

Oregon’s new coaching staff quickly put together a top-20 recruiting class in the 2017 cycle, and have been aggressive during the 2018 cycle, offering more than 130 athletes.

The Duck fanbase has high hopes for a major splash by Signing Day next year, and landing an impact outside receiver like Moore would be a strong start.
