Restructuring continues at Alpine. The American director of the French team, Otmar Szafnauer, who took over at the start of 2022, will leave his post after the Belgian Grand Prix, the 12th round of the Formula 1 season this weekend, the French team announced on Friday. .

This separation, decided “by mutual agreement”, according to the team, comes at a time when Alpine has been in difficulty since the start of the season and is struggling to meet its objective of getting closer to the top 3 of the championship announced in FEBRUARY. It currently points to 6th place in the constructors’ ranking.

Frenchman Bruno Famin, formerly of Peugeot Sport and the FIA, newly appointed director of Alpine Motorsports, will assume the interim from the Dutch Grand Prix, the next meeting of the season scheduled for the end of August.
