Women’s Tour de France. The women’s race ends in the Pyrenees this Sunday, with an eighth stage which will be a 22.6 kilometer individual time trial through the streets of Pau. It is now the Dutch Demi Vollering who is in yellow, after her victory on Saturday at the Tourmalet. Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne will be at the finish of the stage to greet the end of this second edition of a women’s Tour.
Bruno Le Maire in China. The Minister of the Economy continues his visit which began on Saturday and will end on Monday. For his first day of travel, the Bercy boss encouraged investment in France: “I tell you with great frankness: Chinese investors are welcome in France, especially in the field of electric vehicles, batteries and of the energy transition,” he said.
Tribute to Marie Trintignant. Almost 20 years to the day after her death, feminists pay homage to Marie Trintignant by decorating her grave in the Père-Lachaise cemetery in Paris. The French actress, nominated five times for the Oscars, died on August 1, 2003, following twenty blows from her companion, the singer Bertrand Cantat.
The meeting is given at 3:30 p.m. in the 45th division of the cemetery.
End of the Bayonne celebrations. The celebrations come to an end in the Basque town, as tradition dictates, this last Sunday in July, after five days of festivities. A fireworks display will be set off at midnight to close the annual event.
