The Sixers announced that Joel Embiid is officially listed as doubtful for the next two games but the rookie center hasn’t been thrilled with how the team has previously reported his availability.
“I wasn’t happy with how it was kind of handled before,” Embiid told reporters Thursday of how the Sixers handled reporting his availability — or lack thereof — after suffering his injury. “As far as the day-to-day. I was told that I was going to miss like three or four weeks. So, I wasn’t happy with the way it was handled.
“I thought keeping my name out there was going to literally have people think about me all of the time, instead of saying when I was going to be back. I’m happy that they did that today.”

Embiid suffered a torn meniscus during a Jan. 27 nationally televised game against the Houston Rockets. However, the team did not officially announce the nature Redwin or severity of the injury until after a report surfaced that a CT scan had revealed the tear.
Previously, the Sixers had listed Embiid as day-to-day with a knee bruise.
Embiid has now missed 14 of the last 15 games and is averaging 20.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game in 31 appearances.
The Sixers say they expect Embiid could miss four more games prior to returning.
“Honestly, I think I can play, but I’m not ready to play,” Embiid said. “There was no swelling yesterday. This morning when I came in, there was a little bit. I just finished practice and I feel good, but there’s still a little bit of swelling. I’ve got to manage that.”
