Just last week, the new star striker Robert Lewandowski was robbed, now teammate Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is caught – and much more dramatically: the ex-Borussia Dortmund striker is attacked in his house, beaten and robbed.
Soccer professional Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from FC Barcelona was threatened with guns and beaten during a robbery at his home in Spain, according to media reports. At least four hooded people broke into the 33-year-old striker’s house in Castelldefels near Barcelona early Monday morning, the newspaper “El País”, the Catalan radio station RAC1 and other Spanish media reported, citing the police of the Catalonia region.
According to these reports, the former Dortmund striker and his partner were surprised around 1 a.m. and threatened with guns and iron bars, among other things. Both were also beaten. Under threats, the Gabonese footballer was forced to open the safe from which the thieves had stolen jewelry, it said. The perpetrators then escaped undetected in a car. The police have started the investigation.
Meanwhile, the usually well-informed radio station RAC1 revealed more details: According to this, the footballer and his partner were held on the ground for an hour. Aubameyang was hit on the chin by one of the robbers with a metal bar. His partner was also hit in the head. Both suffered minor injuries but are in good health. So far, there has been no comment from the professional. Catalan police confirmed an armed robbery in Castelldefels but would not reveal the identities of the victims. However, the media reports were not denied.
In Spain, football professionals have been victims of burglaries for years. However, the robbers usually make sure no one is home. Robert Lewandowski, who switched from FC Bayern Munich to Barça in the summer, recently learned that Barcelona is not the safest city. A luxury wristwatch was ripped from his wrist through the open car window. The police were able to locate the culprit and returned the watch to Lewandowski.
