One week after enjoying dinner at Andreoli Italian Grocer in Scottsdale, Ariz., with catcher Miguel Montero, Cubs manager Joe Maddon was asked about his favorite restaurants in the Cactus League.
Maddon, who owns an Italian restaurant in Tampa, Fla., called Ava, enjoys the steak establishments as well as the Fat Ox, another Italian restaurant in Scottsdale.
But Maddon’s zest for Mexican food goes only so far.
"I love Mexican," Maddon said. "It don’t like me, so I stay away from Mexican food."
Maddon said he tried eating Mexican food twice, but "lost."
Steak 44 emerged as Maddon’s favorite restaurant in the area.
