FC Bayern Munich is facing the biggest duel of its season so far. Opponents Paris Saint-Germain have recently run out of superstars, and the team is even in a small crisis. Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann suspects a feint. And could be right.

Soccer superstar Kylian Mbappé may be able to play for Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League round of 16 first leg against FC Bayern Munich. According to a report in the newspaper “L’Équipe”, the 24-year-old Frenchman, who recently had to sit out due to a hamstring injury, returned to the pitch on Sunday and completed parts of the PSG training session. On Tuesday (9 p.m./Amazon Prime Video) there will be the eagerly awaited first leg in the premier class between Paris and Bayern in the Prinzenpark.

Should Mbappé actually get fit in time, the French series champion could muster the top line-up in attack. Because world champion Lionel Messi also seems to have recovered from the injury he suffered in Marseille when he lost the cup last Wednesday. The 35-year-old Argentinian is scheduled to return to final training this Monday. Brazilian Neymar is fit anyway, although like his team-mates he underperformed in Saturday’s 3-1 loss at AS Monaco.

PSG coach Christophe Galtier, who has come under pressure, may also decide to only let Mbappé play in the Champions League again in the second leg in Munich on March 8th. Because of the muscle injury suffered at the beginning of the month, Galtier emphasized that he wanted to take “zero, zero risk” with the attacker. Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann had recently suspected a poker game by the French top club because of the World Cup top scorer. “I don’t think he’s going to fail,” Nagelsmann said.
