Heaton has jetted off to a ten-day family vacation but is set to signal terms at Old Trafford on his own return.
United have provided three-cap England stopper Heaton a two-year bargain in addition to the option of an additional 12 months.
The Red Devils are on the search for another keeper, together with the future of back-ups Lee Grant and Sergio Romero cloudy.
Heaton came through the ranks at United and has been a part of the group involving 2002 to 2010 but neglected to earn a first-team look.
Heaton tweeted Friday night:”It’s been an honor to play for Aston Villa Football Club.
“I want to thank Dean and his management group, Christian and Johan.
Each the players and staff in the soccer club are brilliant.
“Playing at Villa Park has been particular and a huge thank you for the villa fans that I believe have encouraged me all the way.
“Good luck to everybody connected to the club and I look forward to seeing you again soon.”
