The Spurs charged through their Rodeo Road Trip with few problems during a 6-2 swing.
Was anybody really surprised?
It marked their 12th above-.500 road trip in the 15 road swings necessitated by the arrival of the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo at the AT&T Center. In two of the other seasons, the Spurs had .500 records. Their only losing trip was a 4-5 mark in 2015.
During the 15 seasons of the Rodeo Road Trip, the Spurs have notched an 88-37 record for a .704 winning percentage.
If that trip was extrapolated over an 82-game season, it would result in 57.73 wins.
But putting the Spurs’ Rodeo Road Trip success into greater context is this nugget.
That .704 combined Rodeo Road Trip winning percentage is better than the winning percentage of Gregg Popovich, when his other regular season and playoff records are combined. Popovich has a .683 winning percentage for those games from a 1292-596 career record when those games apart from the Rodeo Road Trip are separated.
Here’s how the Spurs have finished their Rodeo Road Trip since it started with the 2002-03 season.
2002-03 – 8-1, .889 winning percentage
2003-04 – 6-1, .857 winning percentage
2004-05 – 5-2, .714 winning percentage
2005-06 – 6-2, .750 winning percentage
2006-07 – 4-4, .500 winning percentage
2007-08 – 6-3, .667 winning percentage
2008-09 – 5-3, .625 winning percentage
2009-10 – 4-4, .500 winning percentage
2010-11 – 6-3, .667 winning percentage
2011-12 – 8-1, .889 winning percentage
2012-13 – 7-2, .778 winning percentage
2013-14 – 6-3, .667 winning percentage
2014-15 – 4-5, .444 winning percentage
2015-16 – 7-1, .875 winning percentage

All-time Rodeo Road Trip record – 88-37, .704 winning percentage.
