The basketball players from Bayern Munich impressively end the series of defeats in the Euroleague. Coach Andrea Trinchieri’s team won their home game against Red Star Belgrade after a final effort. After the last four bankruptcies, however, the play-off ranks are still three wins away.
The basketball players of FC Bayern Munich have ended their negative run in the Euroleague. The German cup winner won on the 26th matchday of the premier class after four defeats in a row on Thursday against Red Star Belgrade after a strong fourth round with 87:80 (41:38). With a record of 10:16 victories, coach Andrea Trinchieri’s team still has little chance of making the playoffs.
In a balanced game, neither team managed to break away decisively before the break. The Munich team responded to a 7-0 run by the guests (16:23/10th minute) with ten points in a row (33:25/14th minute). Bayern playmaker Cassius Winston was the dominant figure on the court with 16 points at the break.
Supported by numerous fans in the Munich hall, the guests were better for a long time after the change of sides. Bayern only managed eleven points in the third round (52:56/30th). However, the Trinchieri team stayed close in the final quarter, repeatedly shortening the lead thanks to the strong Vladimir Lucic. Almost two minutes before the end, Corey Walden turned the game around with a successful long-range shot (78:75/39.). With a furious fourth quarter (35:24), Bayern deservedly won in the end. Winston and Lucic were the hosts’ top scorers with 20 points each.
The Munich team continues on Saturday (8.30 p.m. / Magentasport) in the Bundesliga at champion Alba Berlin. In the Euroleague, Bayern will welcome the French team from Villeurbanne on Tuesday (8.45 p.m. / Magentasport).
