The president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), Faouzi Kekjaa, announced this Thursday that Morocco has presented six venues for the 2030 World Cup jointly with Spain and Portugal and hoped that the final of the competition would be held in the future Casablanca stadium. .

Speaking to the Moroccan radio station Radio Mars, Lekjaa explained that FIFA requires the joint bid to have between 14 and 18 stadiums in total and that Morocco presented six venues – Agadir, Marrakech Casablanca, Rabat, Tangier and Fez – but added that “there are others on which decisions will be made soon”.

“The venues that we are going to present will not only meet the requirements of FIFA, but will also enjoy cultural diversity and geographical richness,” said Lekjaa, and also highlighted the geographical proximity, given that, he indicated as an example, Madrid and Lisbon separates them from Casablanca about an hour’s flight. “This will allow fans around the world to celebrate a true centenary World Cup,” he emphasized.

Lekjaa reported that the World Cup centenary celebrations will take place in Latin America between a week and ten days before the start of the tournament.

Regarding the opening ceremony, he explained that it is not yet known where it will be, and regarding the final he expressed a wish: “We hope to experience an extraordinary final that honors the entire continent and the young generations in a stadium in Casablanca that will be extraordinary and wonderful.” said about the future stadium of the economic capital of Morocco.

The president of the Moroccan federation was convinced that 2030 will be “an extraordinary World Cup between the two shores of the Mediterranean and representing two great civilizations.”
