Borussia Dortmund has had to do without new signing Sébastien Haller for a long time and is therefore buying Anthony Modeste from 1. FC Köln. But that’s not all, BVB want another striker: Cristiano Ronaldo. At least that’s what a well-known Spanish newspaper claims. What is it?
FC Bayern Munich canceled Cristiano Ronaldo some time ago, but will the superstar still move to the Bundesliga? As the Spanish “AS” reported on Tuesday, the Manchester United attacker should now have two options for this summer: Sporting Lisbon – or Borussia Dortmund. According to the article, which does not name a source, there should already be contact between BVB and the Ronaldo side.
But Ronaldo to BVB, does that even make sense? After striker Sébastien Haller fell ill with cancer, Dortmund recently signed 34-year-old Anthony Modeste as a replacement. The transfer budget is currently considered to be exhausted. And yet, according to “AS”, BVB should now also deal with the 37-year-old earner Ronaldo because he can guarantee more goals than Modeste? That doesn’t seem logical. Only recently BVB fans started a petition and collected votes for a Ronaldo transfer. Even then, those responsible did not comment.
Nevertheless, more speculation about the future of the Portuguese is likely to arise with each passing day. After Manchester United’s botched start to the season, coach Erik ten Hag is said to be ready to sell Ronaldo in this transfer window. According to Sky, Atlético Madrid and Chelsea should be interested. Other alleged interested parties could follow soon.
Ronaldo’s future has long been discussed in Turkey. Most recently, Galatasaray Istanbul is said to have been interested in the football superstar. The coach of city rivals Fenerbahçe has now commented on the Manchester United striker who is said to be willing to change. “Yes, I’m a friend of Ronaldo,” Jorge Jesus said of his Portuguese compatriot after the 6-0 league win at Kasimpasa. “But he doesn’t want to come, he has other ideas. I don’t think he wants to play in any other league than one of the five big leagues,” said the 68-year-old. He does not yet know whether Ronaldo wants to stay at Manchester United. “But I know he won’t play for Fenerbahçe.”
