Well, Suni Lee is bringing hers to college for dorm decorations when the 18-year-old heads to Auburn this fall. Lee was awarded silver in the women’s team gymnastics competition. She also won gold in the all around and bronze in the uneven bars final. On Tuesday, she competed in the balance beam final in Tokyo and came in fifth.
Lee, a first-time Olympian might have to take a moment to think about where her medals will be displayed. People will steal anything at college, Suni! – but veteran Simone Biles does not.
Biles earned bronze in the beam final and will head home from Tokyo with two medals. She’s now tied with Shannon Miller for the most Olympic medals won all time by an American gymnast. It was the first event Biles competed in at these Games since her vault during team finals after backing out of the all-around and other three event finals due to the twisties. She received bronze for beam in Rio.
It is unknown if Biles will be returning to Paris for the Olympics in 2024. After competition Tuesday, she said she couldn’t contemplate another Games while still trying to process what happened in Tokyo.
