The German Football Association presents its new jersey and is breaking new ground: for the first time, the men’s and women’s teams are wearing the same design. It is inspired by the first Germany jersey from 1908.
One jersey for two World Cups and two genders – the German Football Association (DFB) has presented a uniform design for the women’s and men’s national teams. The home jersey with a wide black stripe in the middle is inspired by the first Germany jersey from 1908, it should be a further signal for more gender equality.
“It’s a cool and strong sign,” said Vice European Champion Lina Magull from Bayern Munich. “This jersey symbolizes that we all stand for football, live the same values ??together and have one goal. We want to be successful and role models for the many girls and boys who love this sport as much as we do.”
The shirt from the DFB outfitter Adidas celebrates its premiere at the women’s World Cup qualifier in Turkey on September 3 (2:45 p.m. in the ntv.de live ticker). “We look forward to wearing it at both the 2022 Men’s World Cup and the 2023 Women’s World Cup,” said Magull.
The shirt number and the DFB emblem are each placed in gold on the vertical black stripe. The cuffs are black, the round collar shows the colors of the German flag. “I like the new home jersey very much. The color combination harmonises, it will be an honor to play for Germany at the World Cup in this jersey,” said Serge Gnabry, who, like Magull, plays for FC Bayern.
The men’s World Cup will be played in Qatar in winter (from November 20), the women’s World Cup next year in Australia and New Zealand. The mint green away jersey remains in use for the women’s national team. The men also get a new away kit in the colors red and black, with gold-colored elements.
