West Ham United’s U21 team is gearing up for their upcoming Bristol Street Motors Trophy campaign, with their group-stage fixtures now set. The young Hammers will kick off their journey away at EFL League One team Reading on Tuesday, August 20th at 7pm BST. This will be the first of three games in Southern Group H for Mark Robson’s squad.
After their match against Reading, West Ham’s U21s will then face Newport County at Rodney Parade on Tuesday, September 17th at 7pm BST, pending Newport’s progress in the Carabao Cup. The date and time of their final group game against Cheltenham Town will be confirmed soon.
It’s worth noting that all three of West Ham’s group matches will be played away from home. The top two teams from each of the 16 regionalized groups will advance to the knockout stages. Newport and Cheltenham will host West Ham for the second season in a row in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy.
In past seasons, the young Irons have had success in this competition. They secured victories against Cheltenham Town and Newport County in previous years. West Ham first entered the EFL Trophy in the 2016/17 season and have been consistent participants since then.
Ticket information for these fixtures will be released at a later date, so fans can stay tuned for updates on how to support the U21 team in their quest for success in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy. This competition provides a great opportunity for the young players to showcase their talents and gain valuable experience against teams from higher divisions. The upcoming matches promise to be exciting and full of potential for the future stars of West Ham United.
