What is going on there? In the 2nd Bundesliga, SC Paderborn and Karlsruher SC are spinning their wheels and filling half a dozen each. Holstein Kiel and Jahn Regensburg suffered at the goal festivals. The SCP is firmly at the top of the table with the spectacle.
After a night in second place, SC Paderborn stormed back to the top of the 2nd Bundesliga with a resounding victory. The East Westphalians played furiously in the 7:2 (5:2) against Holstein Kiel and presented themselves as candidates for promotion. Striker Felix Platte took the lead in the top scorer list with his five and six goals this season (29th/38th).
After five match days, the former first division team already has twelve points and 18 goals – especially at home things are going well: Paderborn already convinced offensively against Karlsruher SC (5:0) and Hannover 96 (4:2), also in the cup coach Lukas Kwasniok’s team celebrated a shooting match at 10:0 in Wernigerode. In addition to plate in front of 9641 spectators, Florent Muslija (7th, penalty kick), Julian Justvan (13th), Raphael Obermair (25th), Marvin Pieringer (52nd) and Dennis Srbeny (80th) met. The Kiel goals were scored by Julian Korb (9th) and Steven Skrzybski (45th 1). Alexander Mühling (84th) failed with a penalty kick to Paderborn goalkeeper Jannik Huth.
Kwasniok had expected an “eventful game”, after all, Kiel had started the season energetically. However, he could hardly foresee the spectacle in the first 45 minutes. Even after the break, things continued stormy. Pieringer increased after a few minutes, Srbeny, who came on for Platte, scored the final score.
After a botched start to the season, Karlsruher SC has apparently managed to turn things around and clinched an impressive away win: Badener unexpectedly won 6-0 (3-0) at Jahn Regensburg and scored seven points from the last three games.
On the other hand, the Upper Palatinate, who started with seven points from the first three games and were the leader of the table, conceded their second defeat in a row. Marcel Franke (7th) and Paul Nebel (14th) gave KSC a 2-0 lead after less than 15 minutes. Jerome Gondorf (43rd) made it 3-0 with a wonderful long-range shot after an exemplary combination. Fabian Schleusener (48’/66′) and Tim Breithaupt (78′) scored three more goals for Karlsruhe in the second half.
The guests were very self-confident, they let the ball run skillfully and made the space tight. With passes into the interfaces on the offensive, they repeatedly caused danger. After falling behind, SSV Jahn had trouble getting back into the game. The efforts of the Regensburgers could be seen, but they rarely found solutions to embarrass the KSC defense network.
The former German soccer record champion 1. FC Nürnberg was able to break away decisively from the lower table areas. The club won 2-1 (0-1) at SV Sandhausen after a deficit and goals in the second half.
In the 33rd minute, the sand houses took the lead through Bashkim Ajdini. He grabbed the ball in midfield, was able to dupe his opponent with a body turn and was not prevented from a brilliant shot into the corner of the goal by four club professionals. Christoph Daferner (49th) made it 1-1 for the Franconians, Kwadwo Duah (90th 3) scored the goal for Nuremberg. FCN is eleventh in the table with seven points, the Sandhäuser have six points after five games and are 13th. In the 15th second division duel there was also no draw in the duel between the two teams, and the club won for the tenth time.
Sandhausen’s Ahmed Kutucu (10th) had the first big chance after fine dribbling, but he hesitated too long with the finish and missed the opportunity. The Franconians were optically superior, but the hosts were initially more efficient in their offensive actions.
