Windhorst joined the Berlin club with his company Tennor in 2019 and over time acquired 67 percent of the outsourced professional department for 374 million euros.
Windhorst had announced his departure from Hertha in October in the course of the espionage affair involving ex-President Werner Gegenbauer and the resulting disputes. Windhorst did not want to name the buyer yet, but announced that information would be forthcoming. “We are very satisfied with the result,” said the entrepreneur one day after his 46th birthday. Windhorst attributed the quick solution to his “good network, which I have been maintaining intensively for 30 years”. Hertha has a right of first refusal on the shares, but due to the economic situation, a buyback should not be an option.
