The Portland Timbers have worn 10 different kits during their MLS era, with some hitting the mark for fans and analysts and others falling short.
The Oregonian/OregonLive recently ranked the 10 different kits from best to worst and asked readers to vote for their favorite.
The winner? The Timbers retro-inspired 2014-15 third kit.
Nearly 45 percent of the voters ranked the 2014-15 third kit (pictured above) as their favorite, with 369 of the 830 voters casting their vote for the retro-inspired kit in the Oregonian/OregonLive poll as of Sunday night.
The kit was the first MLS era Timbers jersey to use a true green and gold color scheme. The gold collar made the jersey stand out and the gold-striped socks brought the whole uniform together.
Not only was the kit aesthetically appealing, it was also a good luck charm for the Timbers on the field. The Timbers performed best on the field overall in 2015 when wearing the retro-inspired third kit. The club went on to wear the jersey in its first five games of the 2015 MLS Cup playoff run before switching to their 2015-16 primary jersey due to league rules in the MLS Cup.
Behind the retro-inspired 2014-15 third kit, the 2017 green and gold primary kit came in second in the voting in the Oregonian/OregonLive poll with nearly 20 percent of the vote and the all-white 2012-13 third kit came in third with nearly nine percent of the vote.
