The Logitech Zone Vibe 100 is a headphone for around 100 euros, which is intended to provide pleasure for video conferences and telephone calls as well as for leisure time listening to music and gaming. In the practical test, it largely delivers, but also shows small weaknesses.
A $20 headset might be enough for the occasional video conference or phone call, but when they become everyday, you’ll want a little more comfort and, most importantly, better sound. And ideally, the headphones are so good that you can also use them in your free time. The Logitech Zone Vibe 100 is said to offer these qualities without being overly expensive with an online price of around 100 euros.
The headset is made entirely of plastic, and there is no metal in the brackets either. This doesn’t feel particularly high quality, but has the great advantage that the Zone Vibe 100 only weighs 185 grams. In addition, Logitech has not used the usual, somewhat sweaty imitation leather for the upholstery, but fabric. The contact pressure is moderate and the shells give the ears a lot of air.
It is a bit irritating at first that the hanger is not padded at all, but only covered with fabric. Due to the low weight, this is sufficient and overall the headphones are so comfortable that you can wear them for several hours without any problems.
The Zone Vibe 100 cannot be folded up, and the shells also have little play. This makes the headset quite bulky in its carrying case, although it is otherwise very compact.
Logitech has kept the operation uncomplicated. Only physical buttons are used, all within easy thumb reach and easy to tell apart. The power switch, which is also used for Bluetooth coupling, is located on the underside of the left shell. Above that is a volume rocker and a button to answer or end calls. The right shell controls only the playback of music and videos.
For phone calls and video calls, the Zone Vibe 100 has a microphone on the left shell that you can fold down if necessary. You can mute it with a button on the inside or by flipping it back.
The headphones do not have a jack socket, they only connect to devices via Bluetooth. This is something to consider if you have a desktop computer in the office that does not have a corresponding module. In this case, you can use the 20 euro more expensive version that Logitech sells with a dongle.
The Zone Vibe 100 can be paired with two devices at the same time. At work, these are usually smartphones and computers. This usually worked well in the test. For example, music playback on the smartphone was automatically interrupted as soon as a video conference was started on the computer. You couldn’t start it again afterwards by pressing a button, you had to pick up your smartphone to do it. Occasionally the headset would also refuse to work after a device change, even though it was still connected.
The headphone sound is pleasant for an office headset. The sound is very clear, with well-defined mids and clear highs. The bass from the 40 millimeter drivers is also quite decent. For fine tuning, the associated app offers an equalizer with presets, but also individual adjustments. The Zone Vibe 100 is just as good as specialists in the same price range and is therefore also suitable for leisure use, as promised by Logitech.
For video calls and phone calls, the quality of the microphone is more important. And in this respect, the headphones can definitely keep up with more expensive headsets. Your own voice sounds natural and clear to the person you are talking to. She could come across a little fuller, but that’s whining at a high level.
The noise cancellation of the microphone significantly reduces background noise, chatting in the office, for example, is largely suppressed. If you really want to, you can use the Zone Vibe 100 to make calls in a café without the other party noticing too much.
The endurance of the headphones is completely sufficient with up to 20 hours of listening time. If it does get tight, five minutes on the charger are enough for it to last another hour.
All in all, the Zone Vibe 100 are good office headphones that sound significantly better than average headsets. Music lovers shouldn’t expect too much from it, though, and an update that fixes the occasional connection issues with two paired devices would be in order.
