Design drawings are intended to show what the upcoming iPhone 15 will look like. If they are correct, it will have a larger display, among other things, and the notch will be replaced by the Dynamic Island, as in the current Pro models. Allegedly real photos confirm two important changes.
After allegedly real CAD drawings recently revealed or confirmed details of the Pro version of the iPhone 15, construction plans are coming from the same source that are supposed to show the design of the standard model. And again, almost at the same time, photos appear on the Internet that may show a prototype of the device.
The drawings, which presumably come from a factory that produces protective covers for the upcoming Apple smartphones, were published again by Max Weinbach and had a graphic designer create 3D images for “9to5Mac” based on them.
According to the graphics, even the simple new iPhones will no longer have a wide notch. Instead, like the current Pro models, they get the Dynamic Island. This means that the opening in the display is smaller because some of the sensors are hidden under the panel. Also, the smaller notch is camouflaged by being integrated into an activity display panel.
The innovation was expected, as it is a common practice for Apple to initially reserve improvements for the Pro devices in order to implement them a year later for the standard models.
Likewise, it’s not a big surprise that, judging by the graphics, the regular iPhone 15 will most likely have a USB-C port like the Pro variant. This is not only due to a corresponding EU decision. Apple also has to replace the good old Lightning socket because it only allows data rates at USB 2.0 level, i.e. up to 480 megabits per second (Mbit/s). On USB-C sockets, on the other hand, up to 40 gigabits per second (Gbit/s) are possible, with USB 4.0 even 80 Gbit/s.
Slightly more surprising is that the iPhone 15 is said to have a larger screen than before at 6.2 inches. The current model has a 6.1-inch display.
It’s no surprise that the CAD drawings don’t show that the iPhone 15 will only have touch surfaces instead of physical buttons. Because this is likely to be an innovation with which the new Pro models should set themselves apart from the standard devices.
It is probably no coincidence that Leaker Unknownz21 published photos on Twitter almost at the same time as the CAD drawings, which are said to show an early prototype of the iPhone 15. On them you can see the reduced notch and the USB-C connector.
