Several Microsoft services experience global failures in the morning, including Outlook and Teams. The triggers are network problems, apparently caused by an update. After several hours, the company’s technicians manage to fix the error.
Millions of people today were annoyed by Microsoft service outages and disruptions. These included Teams, Outlook, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, and Microsoft Graph. An info page from Microsoft’s cloud service Azure showed that the network infrastructure was affected in all regions of the world. At around 11:30 a.m., the company finally announced that it had solved the problem. Recently, the Azure status has been solid green again.
“We have found that the network connectivity problem occurs with devices in the Microsoft Wide Area Network (WAN),” the error was explained on an info page from Microsoft’s cloud computing platform Azure. This has impacted connectivity between clients on the internet to Azure, as well as connectivity between services in data centers and on ExpressRoute circuits. The problem came in waves that peaked about every 30 minutes.
It was said on Twitter that the trigger was a network change that was reversed. As a result, the services have gradually recovered since around 10 a.m. Central European Time.
