Stiftung Warentest presents 20 televisions with screen diagonals of 55 or 65 inches that are good but not too expensive. Two OLED devices are ahead, one of which only costs around 900 euros. There’s even a price tip for less than 600 euros.
TVs with a very good or good picture are often quite expensive. The best device with a 65-inch display rated by Stiftung Warentest is the LG OLED65G19LA for around 2,300 euros; the LG OLED55G19LA, which costs around 1,350 euros, is ahead in the 55-inch class. But there are also significantly cheaper televisions that have hardly performed weaker.
Stiftung Warentest selected 20 recommended devices with a 55 or 65 inch display from their list of the best, paying particular attention to the smooth display of movements. Two models with OLED screens are ahead, LCD devices are even cheaper and were rated almost as well.
In the 65-inch class, the Philips 65OLED706 takes first place with a quality rating of 1.9. Its average online price is 1360 euros. Not only does it have a good picture (grade 1.7), it also delivers very good sound (1.4). In addition, he is very versatile. It missed out on an even better overall rating with only satisfactory performance in terms of handling and power consumption.
If the sound is not that important, for example because you are using a soundbar, the Samsung GU65AU8079U is unbeatably cheap for the 55-inch model with an average price of 675 euros. Although it only sounds satisfactory (2.7), its picture is almost as good (1.8) as that of the Philips TV.
For devices with a 65-inch screen diagonal, the Warentest favorite is also a Philips television with a quality rating of 1.9. The Philips 55OLED706 offers the same advantages in picture and sound as its big brother for around 900 euros, and it also shares its small weaknesses in handling and power consumption.
The price tip from Stiftung Warentest in this size class is the Samsung GU55AU8079U. It only costs 560 euros on average, but still achieved an overall rating of 2.4. The examiners gave his picture a grade of 2.1, and its handling is also good. Sound, handling, versatility and power consumption are satisfactory.
