Nuclear conflict: Trump says North Korea-travel from Foreign Minister Pompeo AB

U.S. President Donald Trump has instructed Foreign Minister Mike Pompeo to cancel his visit to North Korea scheduled for next week. “I feel like we’re not making enough progress in terms of nuclear disarmament,” Trump wrote on Twitter. Pompeo had stated on day before that he would travel to North Korea toger with newly appointed Special envoy for North Korea, Stephen Biegun, and conduct talks re.

I have asked Secretary of State Mike Pompeo not to go to North Korea, at this time, because I feel we are not making sufficient progress with respect to denuclearization of Korean peninsula…

As a reason for lack of progress, Trump called hesitant help from China. Because of trade dispute with United States, China’s willingness to exert pressure on Pyongyang has fallen. Pompeo will, however, travel to North Korea in near future, most likely as soon as trade dispute with China is resolved, US President wrote.

Trump sent his “warmest greetings” to Kim Jong-un, with whom he met at a historic summit meeting in Singapore on June 12th. He is looking forward to meeting him again soon.
