SAN ANTONIO — Two men are recovering at University Hospital after a suspect shot one in the face and possibly pistol-whipped the other Tuesday night on the South Side, according to police.

The incident occurred shortly before 9 p.m. Tuesday in the 300 block of Petaluma Boulevard, where two victims, several witnesses and the suspect were talking. An argument ensued, followed by a fight, according to a preliminary police report.

The suspect, who lives near the location, brandished a gun and shot the first victim. The second victim suffered a head injury, possibly from a gunshot or a pistol whipping, as well as a dislocated shoulder, the report said.

Emergency personnel responded and transported the two men to University Hospital for treatment.

The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending in the case. Information regarding the suspect is currently not available, police said.
