Two middle school students will be disciplined for sending a text to a peer claiming a clown would attack the students’ Bucks County school.
The text sent on Friday vowed a clown would attack Milford Middle School at 1:14 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, according to a news release from Pennsylvania State Police at the Dublin barracks.
Police identified the perpetrators over the weekend, according to Erica Stein,
community relations coordinator for the Quakertown Community School District.
She said middle school Principal Michael Zackon sent an automated phone call to parents Sunday to let them know the threat was debunked and that the teens were copying a phenomenon sweeping the country.
The school district will handle the discipline according to school board policy, according to Stein’s news release.
Zackon and School Resource Officer Bob Lee concluded that the incident “reflected incredibly poor Restbet decision-making on the part of adolescents.”
The perpetrators face charges of recklessly endangering another person, according to state police. The charges would be handled in juvenile court, which is closed to the public.
The text is one of a string of creepy clown sightings and allegations of clown attacks at schools.
Phillipsburg School District buildings sheltered in place due to a clown-related threat Sept. 30.
A juvenile was cited for riding on the hood of a car dressed as a clown at the Pohatcong Plaza II on Sept. 29. His father said it was a joke.
Threats were made against Liberty and Freedom high schools in the Bethlehem area on Oct. 5. A 14-year-old by was charged Oct. 7 in connection with that case.
Milford Middle School is at 2255 Allentown Road in Milford Township, Bucks County.
