The advisory stated that there are ongoing reports of a Russian military buildup at the border with Ukraine. This could indicate potential for major military action against Ukraine. “The security conditions, especially along Ukraine’s border with Russia-occupied Crimea and Russia-controlled Eastern Ukraine are unpredictable and may change rapidly without notice.”

The State Department warned Americans that they would not be able evacuate them if Russia invades. It also urged Americans to develop contingency plans and not depend on the U.S. government.

“American citizens should flee now,” President Biden stated to NBC News Thursday. It’s not like we are dealing with terrorist organizations. We are dealing with one the largest armies worldwide. This is a different situation, and things could get crazy fast.”

 

The State Department approved voluntary departures of direct-hire employees from the United States and ordered departures of eligible relatives from the Embassy in Kyiv.

U.S. Russia-occupied Crimea is a Russian-occupied Crimea. Officials are forbidden from travelling there.
“Authorities continue to abuse and arbitrarily indict foreigners and the local people.”

Tensions are high as Russia has amassed more than 100,00 troops around the border with Ukraine. According to the Pentagon, Russia has 70% of all forces available for a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. It would be the most significant conflict in Europe since World War II if Russia invades.

Russia launched Thursday’s military drills with Belarus at the Ukrainian border. This led to NATO expanding its presence in the area.

CBS News confirmed that the U.S. government plans to evacuate thousands of Americans in Ukraine to neighboring Poland if necessary. Poland is a NATO ally, to which the U.S. recently sent additional troops.
