Schwerin (dpa/mv) – According to the state government, it is currently not possible to immediately dismiss the board of directors of the controversial climate protection foundation MV, as the Greens demanded in the state parliament on Friday. “From our point of view, there is currently – and I expressly emphasize currently – no reason to recall the members of the foundation’s board,” said Justice Minister Jacqueline Bernhardt (left) in front of the members of parliament in Schwerin. She referred to the state foundation law. Accordingly, behavior that is harmful to the foundation is required as an important reason for a dismissal, which is currently not recognizable, the minister explained. Your department is responsible for the supervision of the foundation, a pure legal supervision and no political supervision, as Bernhardt emphasized.

The MV Climate and Environmental Protection Foundation was founded in early 2021 by decision of the state parliament. From the very beginning, critics considered it a camouflage organization because it was supposed to ensure the further construction and completion of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline via a separate economic part financed by Russia. After the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine began in February 2022, the state parliament voted to dissolve it. However, the process continues to be delayed.
