Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) – In the case of a 16-year-old shot by the police in Dortmund, there are new findings: According to a report for the legal committee of the state parliament, the first shot from the submachine gun was fired just 0.717 seconds after a “perceptible taser noise”. This was the result of the analysis of a sound recording.

On August 8, a witness called 911 and stayed on the line. This resulted in a recording of part of the operation. According to the Ministry of Justice, the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) examined the audio track. “Usable speech noises” from the police officers involved could not be heard.

According to the report to the state parliament, the cell phones of the police officers involved have now also been examined. They had been confiscated. According to the ministry, there have been no indications that the officials could have coordinated their statements on the cell phones after the fatal operation.

Ultimately, one important question does not seem to be clarified: in which hand the 16-year-old held his knife. There are no reliable statements about this. Only one witness is sure that the youth held it in his right hand.

The refugee from Senegal is said to have initially threatened to kill himself with a knife in the courtyard of a youth welfare facility. He was shot at by police with pepper spray and two Tasers. Then shots were fired from a submachine gun, from which the 16-year-old died.
