In 2022, national soccer player Ilkay Gündogan and his partner Sara Arfaoui are in rapid succession. The two celebrated their marriage three times this year. Now comes the next piece of good news: the couple is expecting their first child.
Things could hardly be better for Ilkay Gündogan at the moment. He recently became captain of Manchester City. RB Leipzig will soon be waiting for him in the round of 16 of the Champions League. And he should also be set for the World Cup squad in Qatar.
Not to mention the positive run in his private life. Finally, he seems to have found the woman of his life in Sara Arfaoui. The two have already expressed this three times this year.
First they married quietly and secretly in Denmark’s capital Copenhagen. Then they said yes again in a very romantic way in Italy. And finally they renewed their vows again with a pompous party in Turkey.
So that there is no boredom, the 32-year-old and his wife, who is five years younger, already have the next project in the pipeline: Gündogan and Arfaoui are becoming parents for the first time. The footballer announced this with several snapshots on Instagram.
You can see the couple dressed all in black in intimate poses. In two pictures, Gündogan embraces his wife’s stomach from behind. The third picture shows the two from the side. While he kisses her on her forehead, her baby bump is particularly visible in this shot.
“Baby Gundo,” Gündogan writes about the photos, followed by a blue heart emoji. He probably alludes to his last name, which is now also a family name. However, he does not provide any indication of what the child should actually be called. “We can’t wait to meet you,” he adds.
For this he already commented on the gender of the offspring to the “Bild” newspaper. “We’re having a boy. My wife Sara and I have always wanted children. For me, that’s the meaning of life,” he revealed. He had known for three months that he was going to be a father.
The first well-wishers on Instagram included Ann-Kathrin Götze, the wife of Gündogan’s kicker colleague Mario Götze, and Christina Ginter, who is married to footballer Matthias Ginter. And of course the “Man City Army” fan club sent its congratulations to the parents-to-be.
