Ribnitz-Damgarten (dpa/mv) – The police in the Vorpommern-Rügen district are investigating a speeder who was traveling more than twice as fast as allowed near Ribnitz-Damgarten. As a police spokeswoman said on Monday, the 33-year-old driver of an all-terrain vehicle with a trailer was caught by a video car on federal highway 105 at times at more than 160 kilometers per hour. 80 kilometers per hour were allowed there. The team also cut the curves. According to the information, the 33-year-old had no explanation for the driving style.
The driver now has to reckon with a three-month driving ban, a fine of at least 1,400 euros and two points in the traffic offender file in Flensburg. In November, the topic of “speed” is the focus of the topic-oriented monthly police checks anyway, since driving too fast is the main cause of serious accidents in the north-east.
